Join The BIGSOUND Festival Design Team

#Applications for 2018 are now open.

BIGSOUND Festival seeks 15 leading emerging artists from South East Queensland to join the Festival Design team and contribute to a precinct wide activation plan.

Splendour In The Grass Senior Creative Manager Janne Scott and renowned projection technician Lloyd Marsden head up the tutelage and will mentor selected artists to create a precinct-wide lighting, installation and projection plan to bring the Valley to life during BIGSOUND.

You don't need any prior experience working in the festival context to join the team. Janne and industry guest speakers will facilitate a series of 3 workshops to bring you up to speed on best-practice in festival production design, site-specific design, and materials and construction. The workshop phase will be used to develop your ideas, come up with new ones in collaboration with the other participants, and identify which works are feasible to move through to construction.

In addition there will opportunities to participate in a projection mapping masterclass, a weaving workshop and a large scale group project.

This is a rare opportunity to learn from the best, and get your work in front of music festival directors from around the world.

"Being a part of BIGSOUND Visual arts team gave me the opportunity to work with a great team of artists. Through this I was able to develop and focus my creative practice and output. This has since allowed my folio to grow and have my work included as part of showcases in Townsville and the Gold Coast with Festival 2018 Commonwealth Games. Other projects include the Festival poster designs, Geelong After Dark Festival and several music videos for artists based in Australia and internationally. The experience of the BIGSOUND team was a catalyst for a lot of opportunities and it was fun as hell."
