What would the current music industry look like if it was invented by First Nations people? Resilience. Sustainability. Cultural continuum. The wider music industry has a lot to learn from one of the oldest, surviving and thriving cultures in the world. Prior to the arrival of the tall ships, music played an important role on these lands. Despite the ongoing impact of colonisation and dispossession, First Nations music continues to play a critical role in the broader Australian music context/industry. This First Nations led, interactive forum will provide an opportunity for the music industry to reflect on the past, learn from the present and plan for the future. Participants will walk away from this session with further understanding on embedding First Nations perspectives and knowledge into their approach to working with artists and communities.
